Location: New Hanover Regional Medical Center – Wilmington, NC

Schedule: Full Time | Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

About the Women’s Unit:

Our 20-bed medical-surgical unit is dynamic, diverse, and deeply rewarding. Here's what makes us unique:

  • Patient Mix:

    • 70–80% medical/surgical overflow

    • Staff of 30 - 35 
    • 20–30% GYN (including GYN oncology, post-surgery)

    • Select OB cases (antepartum up to 24 weeks, postpartum when babies are in NICU, fetal demise)

    • Occasional low-acuity pediatric overflow (ages 8+), male and female

    • Designated Bariatric Center of Excellence with over 15 years of expertise

The Role You’ll Play:

As the Nurse Manager, you are the heartbeat of our unit. Your leadership will directly influence how our patients and their families experience care—in every dimension, every time.

What You Bring:

  • Current RN licensure in North Carolina (or compact state)

  • 3+ years of relevant nursing experience; prior leadership preferred

  • Passion for women’s health and a patient-first mindset

  • Strong communication, team-building, and critical thinking skills

Qualifications

  • Education:  4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Bachelors Degree in Nursing. Graduate Degree, preferred.
  • Experience: 
    • Two or more years healthcare experience, preferred.
    • Three years clinical RN experience in an acute care setting, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required. NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required.
  • Additional Skills Required: Understands and applies: current and future trends/practice in area of responsibility; regulatory and governing standards, policies and procedures; information systems and software used in area of responsibility; equipment used in performing assigned duties; application of safety and infection control policies and procedures; skills in interviewing and selection process; understanding of budgeting, staffing, payroll and purchasing processes; implementation of competency, feedback, development and progressive discipline processes; teambuilding, conflict management, and interpersonal relationship skills; principles of adult learning and teaching methods/models; decision making, project leadership and consultation, delegation and communication skills; customer needs and expectations and knowledge for improvement to exceed customer expectations; principles of change management.
  • Additional Skills Preferred:Board certification in area of practice.
